Alarm wont stop

This car! I must have the patience of a saint.

Went to open the boot this morning and the alarm went off so I shut the boot but it wont latch, alarm still sounding and the battery is too flat to start the car so I tried disconnecting it. Eventually the alarm gave up (one of the longest 15-20 mins of my life)

Is the boot latch not working due to the battery being flat or is the battery flat due to the boot latch? Possibly neither?

All sorted, recharged battery over night and all working again. Had to do the immobiliser reset to get it to start
