Alarms Gone Off - 4 Beeps on Unlock?

  Add me 2 ur PS3 - Lylak
Hello all,

Just heard my car alarm go off and shot outside and it turned itself off.

Unlocked the car with the fob and the alarm beeped four times. What does this mean??

Cheers,

I think it just means that it's been triggered, mine does it a fair bit. My alarm gets set off by peoples exhausts & the like.

Mine drives me nuts, it's always going off at loud cars or in bad weather. I was told my Mich at Rentech that if it does 4 beeps on unlocking it was triggered by something inside the car.

Have you closed the air vents in the car before locking it ?? That's supposed to make a difference, i've not done it though. They are known for being quite sensitive. The other thing is to swap the interior sensors over, i've not done that either.

I've tried closing the air vents, made no difference. Next step is swaping the sensors over, need to get Rentech or Mark Fish to do it though, Renault didn't know what I was taliking about.

Alarm.

1) The Renault alarms (made by Cobra) have a few common problems but most of the time there found in the first few weeks from new. These include.

2) The bonnet switch can fail or get rusty open the bonnet and you'll see it on the front just check it's working.

3) The interior sensors on the drivers pillar are normally from new extremely sensitive the way to fix this is for Renault (under warranty) swap the feed lines round and the sensitivity is dropped by 40% or so. Until you can get these fixed the only way to fix it is to either alarm the car without the interior sensors being activated or to close the air vents and ensure there not pointed at the sensors on the pillars.

Sorry to thread-jack but...

Mine does four beeps on unlock if you unlock it really soon after opening it, i had a cobra fitted to my mk2 ph1 a fair while back, my friend who has the same alarm (in a proton) works as it is supposed to (four beeps when a door or boot or bonnet isnt closed properly) but mine doesnt do this... does this mean it has been wired in-correctly?

I took my car into Renault for them to do this, even told them what they had to do from what someone on v6.net had told me. They had it the whole day and when I picked it up all they said they did was 'look' at it, but there was nothing wrong with it  I already knew that, but I can't be arsed taking it back there, they obviously didn't have much clue. :(

Had the same problems as you Deb and that was after taking mine to two Renault garages and told them that I got the info here and they immediately discounted it then.

I eventually took the whole system out and replaced with a new one as it was going off every five minutes if I didn't turn the internal sensors off which is a pain to have to do every time you get out the car.
