Alignment cost

How much should I be paying?

Went to jam sport last time and it cost me over £100 and it still never felt right. Just had balljoints done and it feels terrible.

What's the going rate?

Thanks.

Wherever you choose just make sure you get a print out of the results. That way you'll know if what you've got is right for you and which way you may need to go (with advice on here if needed) to get it how you like it.

Got camber bolts ? Rears don't have any. Caster cannot be adjusted. So your effectively paying for toe front and back and camber on the front IF you have camber bolts.

I went to JamSport and they're severely overpriced. Why didn't you go back if it didn't feel right ? I did and they re-aligned FOC.

I can suggest Corby Tyres in Corby. They have a hunter system. Quoted me 90 + VAT for Toe and camber front and back on the CTR.

So for toe and front camber, you'd be looking about 60-70 + VAT at a guess.

+1

And make sure the donkeys don't just get it in the green in the middle and then talk balls**t about the overall toe and camber. You want EXACTLY the same both sides.

Iirc its about £35 for 4 wheel allignment and then about £18.50 per wheel for camber, caster and toe

Just getting it done and they have told me they cant do camber because of how low it is. Sorting the toe out which was -0.20 and -0.15 camber is -3 and -1.3 castor is a mile out as well but im guessing that could be because of camber being out?

f**king useless i wanted it to be driving normally after today.

Well pretty much just spent £40 on nothing other than a front toe adjustment.

Fed up of these useless muppets about why cant I have a specialist up the road from me :(.

Who did you go to ?

You can adjust the camber bolts from under the car, so it being low won't make any difference. Why is it so far out if you have just had it done at JamSport ? I don't understand, has the camber bolt come loose ?

F1 up sixfields lol.

I haven't just had it done at jamsport I did after getting the coilovers fitted then I had my balljoints changed recently for an mot.

Yep been there before and had perfect work done but I think the lad doing it was useless (he looked like a mong)

Mistake number one, not following advice.. I jest.

Would rather go Tyres Northampton in Sixfields than there.

Have they gave you a print out ? Whats your after figures.

Haha It's a pain because I'm back to work tonight so going to have to put up with a car that feels shite to drive for a week.

Been reading up tonight and it looks like castor can't be adjusted without some solid top mounts fitted and I have standards.

Is there any reason why my O/S is reading 3 degrees castor and the N/S is at 0.5?

Camber is 0.5 and 3 degrees.

Caster is 1.5 and 3 degrees by that print-out. I agree, it's a mess! I can see why your annoyed with that service.

Hopefully when the camber is corrected properly the caster will be more equal too, but as you say, it's not adjustable so not quite sure why i'ts 3 degrees on the off side. ??? Are both lower arms the same?

Will be fine once someone who knows what they're doing has set it up.

When I got my peugeot 308 lease car last month with 6 miles on the clock the steering was like in that pic of your 200 above - it was way off to the left! On a brand new car, couldn't quite believe it!

As far as I'm aware mate everything is the same yes.

Noticed I got mixed up with camber and caster so just posted the printouts lol.

Yeah I pretty much paid £40 for nothing other than toe adjustment then he tried palming me off with some bulls**t that there must be a special tool to adjust the camber to which my response was no you don't as it has camber bolts and other garages have managed with simple tools. Got a s**tty mumble back and he was showing attitude so I paid a and left before I lost my temper with him.

I'm just hoping there isn't something broken putting the caster out but as long as all that looks rectifiable I'm happy.

Edit- also after going down to jam sport to see what they was going to charge to sort it out they told me that the garage I went to has a slightly wonky ramp if this is true it could explain the extreme difference in the camber? He said a few people have had to have there alignment redone after being there.

Ah that reminds me after making a complaint about this I had someone higher up on the phone telling me the subframe needs to be pinned to adjust camber, cant be true surely?

Just had it all done at Northampton Motorsport and its all bang on now except front caster is miss matched at the front not being adjustable its obviously something bent.

Would caster being about 1.5 degrees out make a difference? They told me it's not really going to effect the handling.
