Alloy wheel WIDTH

  306 GTI-6
Here is a question I have concerning changing the wheels on my clio.

My current dynamique alloys are 4x100, et43, 15 x 6j

Now, if i wass to fit some 16" alloys with the same offset, but which were 7j width, would i need spacers as I would think the wheel would be 0.5" wider to each side of the centre line, meaning it would sit approx 12.5mm closer to the suspension.

Is this right? I understand the offset, pcd etc. But just wondered how people fitted larger diameter alloys (which are normally slightly wider) without using a different offset or fitting spacers.

Any help much appreciated.

So there are no rubbing issues if the wheels are slightly wider as long as the same offset is used?

I just dont want to get it wrong when spending my hard earned.

16x7j will be fine. What wheels are they? I had 15x7j in ET37 (standard offset) on my old 1.6 and they didn't rub.

not sure what wheels i am planning on getting, as my standrad ones are offset 43, so it gets a bit more complicated as there arent many wheels i can find with this offset.

I am against using spacers after I had an FK hubcentric spacer break on me.
