I've read on here many times that its not a good idea to lower more than 35-40 without uprating your shocks. If you do you are putting added strain on the shocks and you'll need to replace them soon anyway.

I was looking into it, springs £60-£80, full suspension kit would have been around £350 fitted.

Don't bother with just springs get a full kit apex kits are great value.

Stock shocks can die in 50k on normal springs so on modified springs say 25k (assuming thats from new)

lower it first. IMO if you can't afford a full kit then just go for springs at the moment. If you can afford it though definately go for a full kit.

yeh but as someone sed sumink about shocks dying.

If you can't afford new shocks as well your best bet is just to lower it about 40mm. It won't be doing the shocks any favours but they should still last longer that they would dropped 60mm. The other option would be to drop it 60mm and then replace the shocks when you can afford to. As long as you won't take too long to save up for new shocks then it should work out OK that way.

Lowering kits are not easy to come by for the Mark 2 Phase 1 1.2 due to the 52mm hub spacing. I was going to go for the Apex kit but they didn't do it in 52, then I was going to go for Spax, it was discontinued, so I got me some Eibachs, not perfect but very comfortable all the same. Performance is nothing on lower kits though, still too much roll.

Ok well if i were to lower it 45mm or so with jus springs how much u rekon it would cost and how long wud shocks last for. Its got 35k on clock ta xxx

It totaly depends my shoks are worn onn stock springs at 65k with lowereing spring they wouldn't have been usable at IMO. However if you go easy no track days then they should last longer people have had loweing spring on there cars for 40k with 40k normal miles without issue.
