Alpine 9850Ri

  RenaultSport Clio 172
Howdy y'all

I have an Alpine R850Ri HU in my '02 172 and I understand that central display unit (temp, clock etc) won't show the radio station/track info etc as it's an aftermarket model. However, I've been told that it should still display the word "Alpine" and the clock/temp.

I don't have the stalk connected which may be a factor, and I've also checked the fuses and can't see any that are out.

So, any ideas as to how to get it on? Apart from the stalk that is.

Cheers

I have the same problem, im taking mine in next week to get the stalk adaptor connected up and the guy there told me that the centre display should then work, wicked stereo i have to say

yup as above, will not say anything unless you buy the stalk/display adapter.

my pioneer reads pioneer on the display and then when i use the steering controls it says the funtion ive just used eg vol up etc

As BMH says, the above adaptors are what you need. I fitted the same headunit on Saturday with these adaptors and they work a treat. The only difference being that you now roll the control on the stalk the other way to change tracks.

My car is a dutch import as well, I haven't bothered with an alarm though as I can't see people getting past the immobiliser.

Are these quite easy to fit then? Also, if I fit them myself, how easy is it to get the stereo back out when it's already in? Any tips?

Easy peasy to fit, it just plugs into the yellow iso connector and the remote socket on the back of the hu.
Headunit should be easy enough to get out.

Cheers, just called the company up (see links above) for the components and they said the dash wont work any different to how it is now with the stalk connected up. The issue is, at the moment my display is totally blank! Be they lying to me?! :(

Also, any way of linking the 9850Ri to the standard cd changer under the seat?

you havent got the standard headunit fitted at the min have u?

if you havent then your display will only show the time and temp until you buy the adapter lead

nah, I actually have the Alpine fitted now (came with free fitting ya see) and the display says nothing, not even time/temp. Does that mean something is disconected round the back?

When you connect the adapter you get the stalk controls back and the display will just show "Alpine" all the time and show you what button you pressed on the stalk like so :

Exactly as BMH says, you still have full control with the stalk adaptor, the only difference I found was that the scroll wheel works in the opposite direction but that may just be mine.
It was very easy to fit, though I had to swap the wiring loom around a little to fit the stereo but if that is already done the hard work will be out of the way.
Simply plug one of the ISO's into the adaptor, the other end into the headunit and there is a lead from the adaptor which plugs into the headunit for the remote.
Total job inc' re-jigging wiring routing should be no more than 45 mins, even for the Christopher Reeves' among us.

Yep the scroll wheel works the opposite way round for me, actually makes more sense rolling it up for the next track/file though when you think about it.

I don't get the display at all, even though my stalk adaptor's been fitted... is there a chance I'm missing the top of those two links above?

One seems to be for display, the other for the stalk.

  BMW M135i
Nope, because the adapter is a two part thing as the actual adapter box is universal. The top adapter just connects it to whichever make of hu you've got.
One doesn't work without the other.
