Hi i just ordered this head unit off the internet. got it for £170 whick is pretty cheap. Just wondering if any one has had a go on one of these head units and can give me there opinion? are they any good?

Thats a bargain mate! I have the older model 001, and its quality! love it.. no more cd's lying all over the place

The ipod control is immense aswell, really quick and easy

I've got the older version too, great unit. The new version looks nicer, just not sure on the small controls. Is there a choice of led colour.

i am looking at one of these too.

had the previous unit in my old car and was very good.

seem to be a few on ebay, but from Asia or America.

is there any shortfalls of getting one from these regions??

yeh, the FM wont tune in on even numbers, like you cant tune into 97.4 only 97.5, 97.7

i dont really use my radio anyways, so guessing it wont effect me that much.

asia one is the same as the uk. but the usa version is different. so get a asia version.

Apart from its not!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the uk is different to all other countries versions i think youll find!!!!!!

Looks different. he he. dual speed control on wheel, input for audessey processor which is awesome as ive said, enter button on wheel which they should have done in the first place. not massively different to be honest. Dont buy american or foreign units as they dont have same radio features such as frequencies and no RDS!!!

Its what it does. Its very hard to describe without writing pages. Do a search on it. The bloke who developed it was the same person who developed 5.1!!! It started in the home side of things and the home processor is a grand i believe and it basically works with a microphone that is placed in different positions in the cars and a really strange test tone is played which replicates all the different frequency responses. It then works out distances from the speakers to ensure a perfect soundstage and also sets a specific crossover level for all the speakers pheewwww!!! im tired now. Best bet is to type it into google and do a search which will explain it properly but trust me its awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that the reason why no enter in the button on the 001 was because BMW had copyrighted the action with their idrive....as you say Dan, maybe that was the 2nd issue line!!!

got the head unit fitted today every thing works fine. the radio is just the same frequencys as a uk one. It really suits the car ill post some pic's tomorrow.

Has anyone got a photo of this unit or a similar unit (e.g. x200, x300) in their clio?

I'm thinking about getting the x300, I think these Alpine digital receivers could be one of the best looking aftermarket units for the clio as they are black, not fussy and don't protrude too much. I've found the X300 for £109!! Or £179 with Bluetooth module.

No bloody bassengine pro! Why do they always miss it out of every headunit that does everything else I want . Looks like i'll be having to get the PXA-H100 imprint processor then, theres another £125 .
