Alpine IVA D310 RB - ebay?

  "Navy" N17 TWO
What do you make of this? looks decent enough

It's a great looking unit and I've seen it in action at the ICE dealer where I've got most of my work done so far - they quoted over £1k fitted

As said in my other thread - thinking of taking a shot at fitting my own audio now :)
Are these units easy to fit? Is there any extra setting up in swapping a CD h/u for the DVD unit?

Thanks in advance for any hints

Can be a bit of a **** to fit. The screen fits into the standard slot ok but you have to find some where to put the control box that comes with it.

Luckily it comes with a long iso so it should reach to the boot.

I had fit mine under the passenger seat due to the fact i have no boot.

Its abit of a squeeze behind the dash for the wires but can be done.

If your not electrically minded best left to someone who is, the wiring diagram isnt the best. If you dont try though you dont learn.

Upto you.

Ive got this model, its great. If you really wanna show off get yourself the AI Net 6disc changer, you can have a DVD playing in the headunit and listen to music at the same time.

P.S Just incase you fit it yourself you need to rig the handbrake wire up.
to have it on all the time regardless of handbrake position.
Connect the handbrake wire to a negative earth and youll be laughing;)

Thanks Dennis..

How big is the the control box, you got a pic of your install? :)

? Handbrake - you lost me there :S

The screen requires you to hook it up to the handbrake so that it can't be viewed whilst moving for legal reasons.

Ah rite, never thought of that..

If there were other screens in the car can it still be viewed on them while the car is in motion? (hence not distracting the driver)

I pressume so, wouldn't be much use as a dvd source if it cut off the output to external tv's

That's true

How big is the control box - could it be fixed to a panel along-side an amp in the boot maybe?

The box isnt all that big really about the same size as a small amp.

This is mine placed under the passenger seat, not the best pic im afraid.

Looks ok

I've had someone suggest putting the control box in the passenger footwell maybe?

I was going to fix it to the bulk head behind the dash but was to awkward to fix there in there.
It comes with velco fastners or you can use the screwholes.
it has to be able to get air to it aswell coz its got a built in fan for cooling,

Id reccomend putting it in the boot if your running subs and amps as all the pre-outs and remotes are on this box.

Theres also a box the size of a packet of fags (dc-dc converter) which you also have to hide behind the dash.

I thought it was going to be a five minute job but it ended up taking a good few hours.

Is it worth an extra £300 (inc fitting) getting this from a local dealer rather than off the internet? :S

Or take the plunge and install it myself with a bit of help maybe :)

Its your choice really mate, id have a go at fitting it myself with a bit of help, £300 extra is a alot but then again if it gives you the reassurance thats its installed properly its a good idea.

Its not the hardest thing to fit in the world.

As long as you take your time you should be fine.

Most of it is just plugs/ISOs that are colour coded, theres a coouple of wires that need to be wired in but thats it, the hard part is finding some where to put the AI Net box.

Never going to know unless I try
Even buying the unit on the ebay shop is saving me money if I end up paying for fitting

Want to get a setup that will last but don't want to pay an arm & leg for it hence maybe taking the DIY route

Thanks for the information
Have to save up for one of these now ;)
