alternater????? holder snapped..????

well winter is just about here my new clio is getting stripped for next years track season.... But on removal of front bumper and headlights i noticed my alternater has dropped down, the bracket is ok just a little bit snapped on the top short bit but that should be ok as fixings point is still intact, so the alternater, will this be a problem just starting it up, ive checked for play all seems fine with just a little movement if you force it , ive purchesed a new on. so it will be replaced.

Personally I wouldn't risk it if it was me. If its moved it may alter the belt tension causing some damage. Sure someone with more info can advise better though.

I had my alternator completely shear off of its mounts.

this led to being at the side of the M4 waiting for the AA.

I was told (by this site IIRC) that it does happen.

Get it replaced, else you'll be beaning down Hangar straight and then, within 200 yards, you'll have overheated and lost brakes, steering and electrics.

alternater top fixing point, only noticed but it looks to-be a old breakage... wonder if seller new...

this happened to me when i first got my 182 get it replaced! cost me a bomb because the bracket snapped off the alternator so they wouldnt take it in exchange leaving me paying for a new alternator and surcharge!
