Alternator advice...





Few quick questions for all you knowledgeable peeps out there... ;-)

1. Im running two amps at the moment which dim the headlights to the bass... am I going to be damaging the alternator if it cant keep up, or simply draining the battery?

2. Would the alternator from a DCi be a straight swap, both in terms of fitting and wiring? Or if not the DCi, is there any other higher output alternator I could stick straight on it with no mods?

About the amps i was running two amps in my old car one for a sub and it caused my headlights to dim when it was turned up. I was advised on a more powerfull batterey. I sold the car before changing it but a mate changed his and it stopped the dimming. You can buy batterys made to cope with sound systems.

dont really know much about stereos but i think using one of those powercaps and fitting a larger battery would help.
 


yeah, looks like im going to have to buy a Heavy Duty battery for a DCi.

Does anyone know if the DCi alternator will bolt/plug straight onto the 1.2 16v engine? or any other higher output alternators?
