Alternator changed...now another problem?

I have just had my alternator changed which the garage has had to take battery off for.
I got the car delivered to my home and the SERV light is on contantly...what would cause this?
Also how can I turn the light off? I have read online that you can hold down the reset milometer button for 30 seconds when the ignition is in the on position but engine not on...is this right?

Dont know your answer but how much did they charge labour to change the alternator?

that press and hold is to reset the service interval on cars that have it. Most likely an airbag or seatbelt pretensioner plug at fault. You need to plug in to diagnostics to trace it
