alternator help

I've been quoted £330 for an alternator, fitting, + vat, I feel like I'm getting raped.

How much cheaper would it be to buy a second hand one from a scrappies and fit it myself (hard job?). Only plan on keeping the car about 6 months so don't want to fork out too much money on it.

well on my 182 FF it was fuckin horrble to do.

But i see you have a cup, the alternator itself is about 160quid, then it is still a rather annoying job. probaly 2hrs labour on a cup so not to bad i would say.

The beauty of removing the air con system - I can change my alternator in around 30 mins flat! LOL

ouch! I had mine fitted at Panks for 350 and I felt like i had a sore arse, no way would i spend 450 on it!

cups are SO easy to do less than 1 hour to fit
