Alternator Problems

  Clio Sport Cup 172
Has anyone ever experienced a noise problem with their alternator belt/pulley?
Mine (cup 172 52 plate) seems to sound like a diesel whilst idle, but once it's being drove it seems fine?

Any suggestions as I don't fancy the garage just yet?

Cheers in advance,
Tom

Any tips/suggestions or is that it "f*cked?"

Definitely sounds like your Dephaser Pulley which is a Cambelt off job so will cost a pretty penny to get changed... Mine is the same but as nobody has ever stated that there is a risk of complete failure I'm going to leave mine until nearer the time of the cambelt change date again.

This sounds like the alternator is knackered as mine started whirring when my alternator was on its way out..... Best to get it changed over for peace of mind.
You can get refurbed alternators or you can buy brand new its up to you.
