I believe its a bit of a pain in the arse. I fitted one on my old RT and it was a Nightmare. The RT has twice the space under the bonnet than the valver so its probably twice as hard!
Far from it, for me to argue with an AA guy but hes gonna be right if he actually checked the alternater, but the snow bunged up in the radiater on my 16v must have got the distributer wet or the plugs and it conked out 3 times today!
Cleaned it out, gave it a good run and it purrs as beautifully as it always has.
It is a nightmare to do there is no chance of getting to it from above so you have to access it from the front. So bonnet off etc and its still hard work. I bought the haynes manual, took one look under the bonnet and drove straight to my mechanic. Only cost £30 for labour so is it really worth the hassle doing it yourself?
Ive changed mine twice. It is hard to do. You can leave the bonnet on, you need the drivers side head light out and everything in the space round it. Done it bout a year ago so cant really remember. Good luck if you try it yourself.
