Am i getting ripped off?

took the car to a local garage coz inner gaitor had split on the o/s driveshaft, got a call saying cant fix it so i need a new shaft can it be fixed or am i bein ripped off?

I paid £80 exchange for a new o/s shaft for my 172.

When mine went I had the shaft replaced as the potential cost of repairing the gaitor was about the same as new shaft, which are about £260 each I think.

we fix them all them time, tell them to stop trying to pull yer pants down

If its the gaitor thats damaged only it should cost about £40 - £50 maximum to take the shaft off and replace it with a new gaitor
