Am I Mad??

  Clio trophy 355/500
Am i Mad,

i'm thinking of selling the trophy to buy a 200 or should i wait and see what the new clioIV is all about in March?

the only 200's that really appeal are the alien green, yellow and the grey! but they need to have everything sparco seats and cup spoiler.

whats everyone elses view??

Do it!

I've not seen one AG in real life though (I've only ever seen white, grey, black, red and silver), so that may suggest it'd be a hard colour to shift, come re-sale time?

Christopher's and Gorms' cars are my favourites on here (red and silver)

I'd do it I've was never a big fan of the 200 but I love mine it feels great to drive! But I would say get full spec and I wouldn't have white! AG,LY and SG are ace I'd have a AG but bet it will be a pain to sell!

SG is by a long long way the best colour.

If you want something newer and nicer to drive every day, the 200 is better.

If you want something more raw and "fast road on the weekend" then the Trophy is better.

Also, the optional seats in the 200 are Recaro Sportsters, not Sparcos :)

I used to have a 200 Cup. Wicked cars, but loads more expensive to run and just aren't as fun to drive on a daily basis.

The 200 is well built and you have to rag it around to see the full fun of it.
The 172's that i've had have all been much more in, even at lower speeds, because they feel like they'll fall apart if you drive to hard lol.

Oh yeah, here's a little review that I wrote in my project thread when I first moved back from a 200 to a 172:

Go for it.

get hero spec, in hero colour, enjoy the moderately better build quality and the bigger cabin.

Theyre brilliant fun when they're on the boil, They apparently can carry more speed round corners than 1*2s (not driven a 1*2 properly so can't confirm) and the rear end is so much fun when it decides to play :approve:

Yeah, by a long shot. With the 200, I could pick a corner, pick my speed, and it'd just take it. I actually had to start slowing down for corners again when I went back to the 172.

I am enjoying the more special feeling I get from the 200, the 172 felt like an old clio, but the 200 with recaros and push button start makes me feel like a child :)

Saw an AG in Guernsey last weekend, with recaros it looked awesome!

I'm not sure if AG would be a problem to sell? My Punto GT was that snot-green colour that cost £1k less to buy than the same car in white at the side of it.

When I sold it, I got a great price for it and the buyer said he'd be looking for that exact colour for ages, but they were really difficult to find.

Some colours are just horse-s**t though - no matter if they flank a Veyron. Browns and burgandy's are just ultimate no-nos - and I can see why they would be difficult to sell. Something like AG however looks vibrant and fresh. Do it - it would be the colour I would pick in a 200, if it was not for the awesomeness combo of the white one with black accessories.

Yes 100% agree- you can throw a 200 into any roundabout & come out the other side- I tried the same in a 182 & I was nearly in a bush-

Try to get a decent spec if you go for a 200, If you go for a cup it needs to have A/C & ideally recaros ( especially as your coming from recaros ) again speedlines as well-

If FF- then you get more spec as standard- ideal options are recaros, Speedlines, cup chassis Projector lights, NAV or monitor...

So the 200 is easier to drive quick then?

Personally I would love one, however the residuals are disgusting when buying new IMO. Although I imagine its the same with most new cars

Much easier, which imho is where the 'fun' element is lost slightly.

You need to be going a lot quicker in the 200 to get it to 'move around'.

Ah right, I was going to say maybe its because these drivers having to slow down for corners in 1*2's and not in 200's is because the 1*2's arrive quicker ;)

I wanted an AG 200.

Looking on AT/PH. You see people paying best part of £20k for a new one with good spec. Then there's one a few years old for £10k.

Yes, it's second hand. Yes, the warranty is close to running out. Yes, someone has driven it from cold and farted in the seats. But to lose so much money would really sour the experience for me.

Some people can afford the hit/don't care. If I had mega money then I wouldn't care either.

lol, because the 200 had to stop for fuel as well no doubt ;)

Re: residuals Revels, in Feb/March when i was looking a nice <20 mile one with Recaros etc was £13k, now they are £10k!!!

Give it another 6 months and they'll be £8k. At which point, they become tempting.

My mate just got a AG cup with recaros with around 35k on clock. Cost him 8.5k!

Went bang a day later when it spun a shell lol. Been in under warranty for over 8 week now waiting for bits.

My first 200 I seen was a alien green in Edinburgh then on from there I knew I wanted one! But I didn't choose alien green I ended up with liquid yellow!
