Am I Wrong

I always thought that the fuel filter on the Renault Sports was an intank one that never needed to be changed but while looking up some parts o have came across this thats listed for my trophy.

Is this something thats on the trophy and if so is it changeable ?

Yes, the filter can be changed, it is by the tank.

Interestingly, my first Ph1 had it's original service book which had no meantion of chinging the fuel filter, but I ran out of stamp boxes so ordered another genuine one from Renault and in that one it stated the fuel filter was to be required to be changed (I can't remember the mileage it said)

every 36,000miles or 6 years. on all my cars i always change them yearly.

It's about 100k intervals I believe.

It's every 144,000 miles according to the service book , except for the Clio traffic and V6 which is every 72,000 . I was always led to believe it was in the tank .

The one in the tank is just a small bit of mesh on the bottom of the sender unit.

Ph1 had them outside the tank,
Ph2 had them inside the tank.

^SOME phs1 had an external filter, not all of them

phs2 just have a mesh bag inside the sender unit which isn't available to buy (complete sender required)

Ask yourself this . Are you having a problem ? If the answer is no , then i wouldn't bother . I'll bet 99.9% of people never change theirs . They're very expensive from what i heard . This is an old old post i know , from a guy ( edde ) who really knows his stuff about all things Renault .

the pump normally packs up way before the filter needs touching, i've been thinking about making a fuel filter kit for the 172/182

I know all about the sender unit under the rear seats having a mesh type filter as its the exact same as a VW /Audi and they claim its a lifetime filter, this is NOT the one im taking about.

There seems to be another filter outside the tank under the car which im asking about, Its only £20.
