Amp Question

got an amp question for the ICE guys here...

got loads of christmas money and hardly spent this months pay so im going to start my ICE, thinking of getting a 5 channel Pioneer amp which is 4x50watts rms and 1x150watts rms on the sub channel.

now i know from being into home AV gear in a big way that 4x50watts RMS is mroe than enough for a set of front comps and rears but im just wondering if 1x150watts rms is enough to power a sub?

the sub im looking at is a dual voice coil 12" Pioneer sub

cheers

just look at what the rms of the sub is going by my quick look pioneer subs at 12" 300watt recomended input, so personally id say u need more to power it.

why not get a 4 channel amp and a seperate one for sub, or a 2chan and a 3 chan

thought about the 4 channel and 2 channel but was just looking for a nice simple install with minimum wiring, i'll have a look at prices.

just with the amp being pioneers top of the range one i thought 150watts rms would be enough for their subs but dont want to end up getting it and a month later want more power :D

erm u really wouldnt be adding much extra wiring trust me.

just a case of running the +from a slitter to each amp , and 2 negs, rest of cables ud do with just one amp

ahh right cheers just thought one amp would look tidyer than 2 but it doesnt bother me that much if its going to sound better.

what thickness power cable do you recommend?

cheers

edit: also what battery, mine is on its last legs
