An idiots guide to spring rates please?!

Is there an easy way of describing spring rates and poundage for road cars?

I want to get some slightly stiffer rear springs for my cup, sat on H&R coilovers. I don;t want uber stiff but something stiffer than what I have would be fine.

Took a pic of the exsisting ones but it's all chinese to me :S

Anyone know what they are, and obviously what would be a good rate to go for for a stiffer setup?

Spring constant is the force require to stretch a certain distance. Newtons/metre.

It's jacked up on the right hand side, that's why it's sitting funny.

is it not the weight (Lbs) required to compress it an inch. Lbs/in...

There the H and R part numbers not poundage.

Take a spring off and ask Demon Tweeks if they'll put it on there machine and tell you how hard they are.

fronts are 70N/mm or 400lbs/inch

I was looking at Dacia Logan Cup setup which uses 60N/mm front and 100N/mm rear and probably fits our clios

I only worry that H&R shocks are too long for some racing springs...
