The upcoming arrival of the next iPhone doesn't really have anything to do with it, the overriding factor is that unlike the iPhone and Blackberry platforms, Android is not limited to a single vendor.

It won't be long before it overtakes RIM and takes the #1 spot as the most used smartphone OS, however, the OS is forked to f**k and each manufacturer is building in their own set of android incompatibilities.

Google's trying to pull it back and realised that they've made a mistake, time will tell.

Which is funny because the only reason the iPhone works is because of its OS. Its specs are lower than a lot of other phones on the market, so it probably wont run Android that well. Also, this will just boost the Android numbers. May as well ditch your iPhone and get a Desire; bigger screen, faster phone and a better camera
