Please don't mate. The sdp coming off is fine but don't take an angle ginder to your car.

Surely I wont need the inner "skin" as there is nothing to mount to it?? It will be covered anyway so it wont look gash either!!

Rather than Hacking up the Tail Gate, is there not a company out there who make Fibreglass Tailgates?

Not a clue mate! I was thinking taking bits off is free!! Got my money committed elsewhere at the mo!! ;)

I would take the sound deadening off, paint it and leave it, especially such a "young" car as said

pointless mate. Just have a s**t before you drive :)

Think of when you come to sell it. " mint conditin, half the boot missing"

I'm one for stripping, but make it so u can put it back again if you need to sell.

:D Good lad! I might be going down to see them myself if they can/will do the stuff I want doing. Just waiting to hear back from them.

you trying to make an r27r mate? Grinding off little bit wont make much difference i doubt. Remove the spoiler, no need for it ;) Change the glass to perspex. Race seats. Cage will add weight unless you spend some decent money on a lightweight one. Whats the long term plans for the beast?

ive got to say mate you have mega balls cutting up a fairly new car, ive saw you get some stick on this place for the way youve modded your car because its new but honestly who gives a f**k what others think, its your car, go for it, will be an animal when its all added up!!

Aye, thats the way its headed, more power, less weight (bar the cage) and then I need to look at the handling. Cup set up is ok for now!! Hmm, spoiler could go I suppose but I like it too much!! Looked at the glass, will be last on my list! ;)

Pah, as you say.... its my car! It will look good when all done, looks good now!! I get why people are shocked at me hacking bits off etc but.... Its not like Im cutting holes in the bonnet etc...!!

wont cutting the inner skin off make the pannel flimsy, as surely by it being boxed it is stronger. could it lead to the boot pannel twisting when slamming it shut then meaning you may not be able to open it if the twisting damages the lock mechanism.

i dont know if that will happen but worth considering if its really worth risking it

Its only the cebtre of the panel, not connected to the outer skin, I would think its the corners that provide the rigidity mate!

www.dccmotorsport.com just order a fibreglass or carbon item from them

Wish I had the cash mate, its tied up elsewhere :dapprove:

don't know why people always have the same comments on 'making the car lighter' topics

ffs it's not your car, he just asked is it safe to do it.
And metal panels are a bit more than 0.5 kg :)

He obviosly wants to make the lightest 197 there is, and I hope he does, so we (me) can watch and copy ;)

cut it now, get a fibreglass one later when U have the money
