Annoying drivers door rattle on 172 ff

I have now got a nice door rattle coming from inside my drivers door. :S

Ive tried hitting the door card gently a few times to try to get rid of it :)

Anyone ideas what it can be ?

P.S My window still goes up and down and mirrors switch still works and central locking still works.

Its weird...

Can anyone help ???

Can't help, but I have this too, it's like a buzzing kind of rattle! Just Renaults for you! I just turn the music up lol!

I have noticed there a bitty rattly compared to the polo i had before :dapprove:

Glad to know i'm not alone :)

ya gotta take the door trim off and take a peak.

I think i'll have to tomorrow if its nice outside...

HOW DO YOU GET DOORCARD OFF ?:S

Does anyone know if the clio has a door liner behind door card that needs taken off to look into inside of door ??

I have this exact same problem. It's doing my bloody head in. I know it isn't the trim on the door pillar or the accessible parts of the locking mechanism.

Don't really wanna rip the door card off, cos they'rre never the same again.

SOMEONE MUST KNOW WHAT THIS IS!!!!!!!

I've got a similar issue. My plan is to rip each interior panel out and line the card with foam tape ensuring all surfaces that make contact with the metal panel are covered. I also intend to add a couple of rolls of Brown Bread at the same time.

Foams a good idea I might try that but I wanna reduce my cars weight not fill it full of heavy sound insulation.
I should just sell my interior and buy ear plugs and buckets LOL

Get it done man, who will notice less than 1kg of foam tape.

Another idea would be to vacuum the inside of the door panels, rear three quarters and tailgate. Any small pieces of dirt/gravel that have worked their way in can easily resonate inside without dropping through the drainage holes.

I meant the aluminium backed sound deadning would add too much weight... Im not pedantic enough to worry about a few grams of foam!

Unless your on about using real brown bread in which case it will go mouldy after while!

tighten the torx screws holding the trim in place. you never know.

but it is still a Clio, and when you fix that, something else is bound to start rattling.

ive given up trying to stop them in mine.

Ah, I getcha. I still think the brown bread would be a good idea. I hear Hovis Farmhouse Multigrain does a good job. They even deliver it in a CTR :rasp: .

I have a rattle in my door too except I aint as lucky as to own a 172 for my rattle troubles lol

Mines sounds like it'd be coming from the door pins cept the car doesnt have any door pins (the ones you used to use on old 80s cars that you pushed down before closing the door in order to lock the door, not the pins the door is held onto the car with or at least I dont think so as the sound seems to be coming from right beside me not in front) , but its like a quieter version of the door pin rattle my mate has on his Rover 25, that sorta "clicky" door pin rattle noise if anyone knows what I on about??

My radio packed up on Saturday and i've only just got it back today - I found so many little annoying noises in the past few days its unbelievable, this being one of the worse. It seems to be from under the mirror switch area...

There is no short-cut to this, take the door card off and have a look.

It could be a number of things, wiring loom not tied down, window regulator loose, door lock connecting rods touching the frame, glass guides loose, broken door card clips lying in the bottom of the door, etc etc.

I once took the door card off a brand new S class Merc, that had a rattle, and found a 10mm socket on an extension bar. Its still in my toolkit !

fookin hell brian, that sounds more like a tale about a BL car than a Merc. What's the world coming to

My car has a different rattle every day. My drivers door rattles *sometimes*.

My glove box rattled for a week, then stopped for a week, now rattles again. Sometimes I have a rattle in the back, but only sometimes.

There's no consistency to the rattles in Renaults.

My drivers door sometimes rattles too, i tried taking all the trim off and having a look, but no success.

So much of the damn thing rattles now I've given up trying to stop it. :dapprove:

The worst noise in my car is coming from the front right and I've had it for months and it just keeps getting worse and worse.

As described here http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=179279&highlight=very+strange+noise

Fooooking clueless as to what it could be.

mine does the same i thing, inside the door it a piece of black plastic inside the door, think its a side impact obsorber or sommit i think its that

Turning the music up is fine but what do you do when you have other folk in the car with you?
Mine has just gone in for the 4th time to get the glovebox rattle looked at, it will keep going in until they fix the bloody thing.
