annoying rattle in boot 182

as title i still got the annoying rattle in the boot of my 182, anyone else had this and if so have you cured it.

not being funny but just interested in rattles in the boot nowhere else (at the minute)

right for anyone interested i found it , well i went out in the car (wife driving and me in the boot LOL !!!!), anyway its coming from the tailgate somewere behind the plastic trim, so will try and sort it tommorrow

My 172 was the same when I first bought it found a loose nut inside the tailgate that normally holds the release button/badge bit in place.

heh my plastice trim itself rattled so i now have a nice hole in my boot lids inside where i ripped it off. Still rattles though, but I do have a sub :)

I think it is the plastic trim, as when i pushed it etc it seemed to stop it, so i will get it off and see

if its the same problem I had youll hear the nut rolling about when you lift the tailgate up and down

no theres no rolling nut noise, i know coz i have shacked it to death trying to find the bloody rattle, its more of a squeak than a rattle i suppose, its really fuking me off though, i nearly considered selling it because of it !!!! LOL

I got one down there too, the most annoying one in fact. Just visualising the missus face when I tell her to get in the boot and find it ;)

yeh it does my head in, im going to check it out this morning, im guessing its the clips that hold the plastic trim in, will let you know if i cure it

Id check these items:

The parcel shelf (im sure mine rattles)

Check/oil the locking mechanism (Courtesy of Jon R)

Add some foam to the centre passenger belt in the roof to stop that shaking

Check/oil the joints where the rear seats clip into.

Fill the entire rear of the car with a mixture of eggwhite and PVAglue (ok i wouldnt do this one)

Like i said i think its the plastic trim that covers the boot as whilst the wife drove i pushed this and the rattle stopped !!, i dont know what it is though as i have had it off before and put foam all around it, i think its the clips themselves (the ones that fit into the metal

Are you sure its the boot Ive got a 12ver in my 1.2 16vavler and the only thing that rattles at the moment is the quarter panels.

However what I did do was to remove the original carpet and replace it with 5mm mdf with some thick lounge carpet which also helped a lot

yeh its deffo the boot, as i was sat in it last night and heard it, anyway had the panel off again, and put foam around anything that moved and put bluetack on the clips that hold the panel on and covered everything else in grease, then went for a drive and its stopped the noise "woooohoooo"
