Annoying

I own a mk1 172 and only had it a week and there is 2 things which are annoying me.

1) I get like a vibration noise when I pull away and this only happens when I have jsut started the car and not at any other time like lights etc

2) Now and again I start the car and it starts then dies but then starts ok there after. Been told by a mate that it may happen if the ignition panel gets damp as it's only just under the rocker cover as his 182 does the same thing.

Can anybody help with these 2 please

When it starts and then dies is the imobiliser light continually flashing???

Does the vibration only happen once for about 1 second?

A bit like a saw running through a piece of wood (or a fart) and then doesn't happen again until switch off?

Or is it nothing like this!

Yeah that's exactly what happens and then I switch off and next time I switch on and pull away it does it again.

It is rubbish isn't it you buy these things and there is always loads wrong with them and then you are more often than not fobbed off oh yes that is a normal problem on these cars. If they know what the problems are then why are they not fixing them . I would be miffed too.

Could be TDC sensor you second problem.
First problem depends how serious it is might be a drive shaft rattling or a clutch going weak.

That don't sound promising will speak to Mike at Rentech when I go down there for the Cambelt change

First problem depends how serious it is might be a drive shaft rattling or a clutch going weak.

It don't sound like a driveshaft or loose clutch problem as the noise only happens the first time I pull away after just starting the car and there after there is no sound at all:S
