anodized aluminium

what is it ? what type of aluminum as in polishing my FRG and the polish say not suitable for anodized aluminium. and if i do put it on what would happen ?

anodized alloy is a plating on top of the alloy, if you were to polish it with an abrasive the colour would come off

Anodising is an electroplating process, you cant just paint it on. The part you want to coat has to be dipped in a tank while a current is passed through it.

the rim and centre of my break discs are anodised and I got autoglym alloy wheel cleaner on it and its eaten through the coating and started to rust the metal underneath.... after reading the bottle it does warn about it
