another dephaser ?

Car  clio 182
hi done loads of searching on here about engine tapping so come to the conclusion must be the dephaser. so heres my question what actully causes the tapping is it just the dephaser pulley or is ther somthing what needs to be changed. Also is there a renault specialast in essex

Mark Fish is essex way iirc. It could be the dephaser yes. Be aware that if it is, the pully needs changing (£160), and the belts also.

the dephaser rattles due to lack of oil changes IMO

dephaser and belts needed if it is that

sound like a tractor (diesel) on idle when warm? then dissapears as you raise the revs??

doesn't sound like a diesel just tapping at idl e, the car has immaculate service history so has had plenty of oil changes, so how much is a dephaser and pulley also where abouts is mark fish

The general dephaser issue is getting worse and worse, it's nearly at the point where I would consider it being part of a cambelt service every time.

Just out of interest, apart from the horrible noise what damage can this do? cambelt failure?

im aware the dephaser is for the vvt so will this not work?
