Another Insurance moan!!!

  MkV Golf R32
Hello, sorry about yet another insurance moan but its annoying me!

At the moment I am trying to get a quote on a 182 and cant seem to get any lower than £1111.04

I am 23 years old, driving for 4 years with 2 years ncb.

This is with my mum as a named driver too.

I wouldnt mind if I lived in manchester or liverpool but I live at a WA7 postcode which is category C on the DVLA list so in the middle.

I have tried adrian flux (£1362), sky (3k+) and I am awaiting on greenlight to get back to me.

Churchill have gave me the lowest price just because I get multi-car discount.

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

David.

Tried admiral but they said they couldnt get anywhere near my best price. Will check elephant now.

Tried elephant, they came through at £1057 with £350 excess or £941 with £500 excess but that is to pay in one go, I have to phone to pay monthly, I am sure the price will go up then!

at your age putting additional drivers on insurance puts the price up. It only makes it cheaper if your under 21 as I just found out as turned 21 and gone through insuring for a year again. Try direct line. Im 21 with 3 years ncb and pay 700 on a 172 cup

Ok thanks, I will look at quotes without my mum on, but she does use my car sometimes.

I would take the multi car discount up but I would like my quote within 1K easily.

Took my mum off the policy and it shot up to £1500. I cant understand why I am not getting decent quotes.

I'm 23 and adding my mum and aunt drop my premium by about £200. I'm with Elephant. I also say the car is in the street. Driveway and garage are more expensive.

try bell, they are a sister company of admiral/elephant. and are usually pretty cheap. and will match their sister companies quotes, but also check out that excess btw, you will probs find there is a £150 complusary excess on top of your voluntary for bein under 25, if your under 21 its even more (like on bell iircs its under 25- £150, under 21-£250).
with bell you can insure your mods but its only upto £500 per claim, so you might need to pay the defecit if the dameg to your mods is more than that.

Ha ha ha ha SC03OTT thanks, came down to £850! happy with that. Very strange indeed why it comes down.

Or £770 on the 10 month accelerator, what option is the best? I could afford to pay £770 in one go so no need for monthly outgoings.

When do you need to pay it by? Get yourself a 0% CC and pay it off using that. No interest that way.

I'm with direct line, only 22, with 2 cars (clio 172, megane 1.4 16v), 2 years ncb £770 fully comp for the year as the only driver, living on a council estate with 1/2 hourly police patrol.

Mike_182, can I ask why you think the 10 month accelerator is a con?

Cheers.

10month accelerators are a con because a) more expensive than 12 month policy and b) the no claim bonus isn't transferable so your stuck with them next renewal.

Pretty sure that after the 10 months the No claims is the same as you would normally get (mine was anyway) so could use it elsewhere.

I agree it is more expensive however I have not had a problem switching companies and them accepting a 10month no claims bonus

Not for me bud. I'm 22 an my rents took it down by over 600 bucks!

It seems a tad random to me tbf.

Bell was cheapest for me.

Well I have had a look over the usual sites and elephant and bell were the cheapest. Just got to decide whether to pay in full on a 10 month scheme or get it over 12months and get a 0% CC, I am good with money so a CC wont bother me.
