Ive replaced my 172 key from renault and gone through the financial pain associated with it , after the immobiliser stopped working in my car: a yr 2000 172.
now my girlfriend is having a key issue in her '99 1.4.
her problem is that the central locking refuses to work consistantly. (the key starts the car with out issue.) from what i can see the contacts in the key are not contacting as well as they once did...
her key uses the IR locking rather than the radio freq typre that my 172 uses.
my question is can this earlier IR type key be replicated by a locksmith or are we stuck with the expense of renault again?
