Got a 'y' reg 172 for track and occassional use so it sits around for a while. First time it wouldnt start after cold weather I fully charged the battery and it was fine and did a track day with it - no problems.
A few days later it was dead. Bought new battery and it started once. Tried again and it made clicking noise. Tested new battery under load and it was fine but still wouldnt start it.
Recharged old battery again and car started no problem. After it ran down a few days later I used the new battery to jump start the car and it fired up.
My mechanic pal checked the car and could find any issue with alternator or light/stereo etc draining power.
Any ideas as i'm confused, not hard as i aint mechanically minded, especially 'bout the battery issue.
