Avast free. Brilliant software and rated #1 on CNET. Mse is rubbish in comparison

I've always used MSE and it's never faulted yet.
In fairness, if your careful on the Internet you shouldn't need an anti-virus.

AVG for me, used it for years and never had any probs with it. Also pair it up with malwarebytes.
If you're going to have anti-virus on, you might as well use the best you can.
Totally agree with the second part, haven't had it on my own laptop in years. I have no need for it!

If your with barclays and have online banking you can get kaspersky for free, thats what i use
I wouldn't want to use Kaspersky even if I got paid for it.
This, a lot of banks offer free/subsidised AV.
Totally untrue, your computer can be infected from simply visiting a website, even the most trusted ones. If there is a zero day exploit in your browser or in a plug in like flash it can be used to install keyloggers trojans etc on your computer.
Come off it, a teenage boy used zero day exploits to escape Chromes sandbox.

I'd go for Avast free based on detection rates etc. Just turn off the stupid voice telling you its updated!
And how is Anti-virus going to stop that?
Its what he can do after that is why you need anti-virus as another layer of defense.
