any clio owner with front fog lights.

if you push the fog light button again it will turn the effing things off!. it does'nt look cool, even with just sidelights on, you just look like a knob. rant over. p.s. your tossers, p.s rant really now over.

There are just an extraordinate number of people driving around with their front fogs on at the minute, when it blatantly isn't foggy.... We should start a "flash your fogs" campain ;) So like you would flash your main beams if someone was blinding you with theirs, we should flash our fogs at other people with them on. They'd probably wonder what the heck we were doing mind, and its not really that easy to "flash your fogs" but it would be a fun way to vent some frustration at these people who need to go to the opticians to get their foggy vision checked out. Maybe thats it, perhaps they have foggy eyesight and everything looks foggy to them. thats why they've got their fog lights on all the time... in that case they aren't safe to drive if they can't see properly and should be taken off the road by the police..

Thats what I do!

I must admit i had mine on once, I was leaving the village where i live, the country roads where really foggy but i forgot to turn them off on the way into the town. Any way-got pulled and got a £30 fine for 'causing undue dazzel'

I have never used them since!!

had an arse of a clio driver following me in my lorry for 22 miles today, his car was'nt fast enough to overtake, but he still needed to illuminated the ground behind my rig for the entire journey. whats the point, its not foggy. next time im just gonna stop and reverse in to the little knob. hay presto no lights at all. no problem. once again, there tossers, i know ive said taht before but i thought it was that important, i state it again.

i dont let little things like that bother me tbh... i just carry on without getting frustrated.

i can see how it gets annoying though :)

lifes too short dude.......................what does it matter? :S

I dunno. it doesn't really! I was only fooling with my excessively long rant above :clown:

If you actually give it serious consideration, it is less dazling for other drivers if you drive with side-lights and fogs but no dipped beam because the fogs shine down rather forwards. And if you are in a lit up area you don't need to have your lights on to see where you are going, only so other people can see you.

Forget flashing your fogs...

A paintball gun with black paint should sort their foggies out....

... either that or a BB gun with BIG ball bearings.

Or even, BIG BIG ball bearings fired out of a paintball gun.

The MK2 foggies are quite large, so aiming shouldn't be a problem.

still think it's people carriers etc. that are the worst at it....

People carriers are bad if you are in a smaller car like the clio and one is following you, because their lights are higher up in general and tend to shine straight in the back window.

I keep getting flashed just for having my headlights on! Are Xenons amazingly bright as it appears that BMW drivers don't like. When I get a flash for my 'bright' lights, they get some full beam. Coonts

They don't like them because they had NO money left for optional extras (after forking out for a basic 320d).
Todays was actually a 7 series. Are Xenons actually that bright though?

this is a brilliant topic...so many of them doing it

i usually turn on the fogs and whack on the full beams at the same time until they pass.....theres no need (as you say though its mainly boy racers thinking it looks sporty...lol)

PMSL :)

Wouldn;t let fog lights bother me as much as the thread starter though.. you seem a bit angry? I understand it's annoying but...

which therefore requires you to put your front fogs on... which will trigger off the person in front to put theirs on, and then the person......

... see where im going here?

Well.. if they're incorrectly adjusted, then yes!

Yours might need to be adjusted downwards slightly? (they auto level once "set", they might just be set wrong).

Take your car to your local garage, and get it looked-at.

you know what pisses me off and many other drivers. I have the auto headlights switched on. when i want to flash someone to say thankyou, or whatever, they fecking stay on(full beams). I must have blinded this old dear today, i was only being polite too.!

plus fogs r 4 nobs

unless its foggy, then I get all excited that i can use them.:)

hmm front fogs..... even in the fog dont do much.. at all if not just make it harder to see... why are they there?? at all.. rear ones maybe but front foglights.. what a waste of time..

Agreed the front fogs on my car (citroen C4 now) just make a wider beam its kinda useless unless you really wanna see into the lane next to you as well as you can in your own :/

Only used em once on motorway other day goign up to scotland was so foggy was sitting at around 80 perfectly clear ahead and then you couldnt see 5 foot ahead next thing was rather odd the weather.

And xeons seem very bright if you catch them on certain angles most of the time its not that bad but yes they are brighter usually.

In honesty guys I always drive around with my sidelghts on and my fogs on if the weather is less than Sunny as I adopt the Motorcyclist approach. If you have your lights on then people might actually see you.

I've even bought a full set of Xenons for my Mk1 172 which actually do quite nice.

I honestly do not see what the problem is as in my last car i had a set of 4 Cibie oscar spotlights in rally formation running 130w bulbs. Now that pi**ed people off if you were behind them if you were in a bad mood.

Just my 2p anyways

I reckon it's all cos of that ford focus advert, the "sporty front fog-lamps" one...Now people think it makes their car really "sporty" if they have them on ;)

I've noticed loadsa people doing it recently, not particularly Clios though.

Ok but why the fog lights and sidelights why not just dipped beams?

Whats the point in using the fogs the dipped beams make you more noticable anyways.

^^

Exactly... "fog" lights are setup for "fog" - they're not focused on the road ahead, and there's a lot of scatter, therefore they do dazzle drivers coming the other way.

"fog" lights are very low down, so that in thick "fog" one will not be dazzled by the reflection of their own lights.

"fog" lights point upwards - so as to illuminate to road ahead in "fog"

"dipped" beam is "dipped", and therefore focuses downwards with a bit of scatter (for roadsigns).... excellent for a clear day... but not in "fog".

One thing that really annoys me on the clio is that to put your rear fogs on you HAVE to have the front ones on...
Sometimes you want one OR the other not necessarily both...
Driving down the lanes to work, it's often murky, but with dipped headlights visibility is reasonable - so why won't renault let me turn on just my rear fogs, without the fronts???!!!
