BIG BIG ball bearings fired out of a paintball gun.

Why bother, just drive in front of them and throw tiny pieces of gravel out the window, within 200 yards they will both be cracked to fook - useless things.

BTW wheres the cheapest place for getting hold of a new unit these days?

fogs dont point up at you they are aimed down so cant really cause a problem, Im not bothered if people coming towards me have theirs on. Nobody complains when its foggy do they

Lets be honest here, how often is it really foggy enough (sub-100m visibility) to warrant using them?? I can't think of any fog that was that thick in the last 12 months. They are put on cars for the same reason as spoilers and splitters - to look like a fast / rally car.

I don't think the fogs work when you have auto-lights on either, so you can't flash people without manually putting the lights on. Far too much effort.

A couple of years ago it was the paxo crew that always used them, wierdly enough now its dozy middle-aged tarts or c***s in suits driving cheapo MPV's. The one good thing is that if they have their fog-lights on, at least they're not driving around with no lights on...which seems to be getting more common (dare I say in 'poor' areas, with a high immigrant population).

miketheman...

Even when down to under 100m visibility, they're still useless most of the time!!

I drove through under 30m viz once.... couldn't see a darn thing - lights on/off.... eyes open/shut.

last comment is a bit dodgy, I thought this was Cliosport, its a shame people get so easily wound up by such trivial things.

If you live near a river or in a valley you would know what real fog is like

That's right, its a car forum, that's why I'm venting my frustration about car-related matters. Have I broken some rule?

One thing that really annoys me on the clio is that to put your rear fogs on you HAVE to have the front ones on...
Sometimes you want one OR the other not necessarily both...
Driving down the lanes to work, it's often murky, but with dipped headlights visibility is reasonable - so why won't renault let me turn on just my rear fogs, without the fronts???!!!
hehe we valver/williams drivers get seperate switch's for front and rear fogs

I keep getting flashed just for having my headlights on! Are Xenons amazingly bright as it appears that BMW drivers don't like. When I get a flash for my 'bright' lights, they get some full beam. Coonts

LOL m8 - I had some bell-end last night flicking his rear fog lights on and off in front of me last night. Like, wtf can I do pal? They are autolights and xenons at that.

I should have put the 3 billion-candle power full-beam on to really piss him off! ;)

switched them off accidentally whilst hurtiling down a country road at 2 in the morning, couldn't see nothing for a minute!

I used to turn mine on occasionally by accident when i had my clio. Not as easy to accidentally flick em on in the C4 plus i just leave the lights on auto anyways.

I always flash my fogs at peeps that have them on, although one is out at the mo, must do that this weekend. Anyway it's worse when people have them on when its raining, especially if your on a bike where your higher up and you get so much glare off the road, it really pisses me off! and whoever said earlier on it doesnt really matter? of course it bloody does, its illegal and dangerous!!

seconded, in this country it's against the law to drive round with them on, unless the driving conditions suit them to be on. Sorry but even though they might "brighten" the image of cars, they are still there for one reason only. I got pulled by the local police a couple of years back for driving around with them on and he said it officially is a 3 points on the license thing. Theres no need to be so lazy and leave them on.. ok, fog and photoshoots but to drive round with them on ?? most cars now have brighter main lamps anyhow... why bother?

 :nono:

Just like the Neon Washer jets ... Another useless invention! ... but thats a different thread topic

My light related annoyances in no particular order:

1) Fog lights on, as original post. I've flashed a few and they have no idea why.

2) Fog lights and side lights. This is worse because its clearly to "look cool"

3) Rear fog lights in heavy rain. How stupid can you get?! If they think its helping the driver behind them they have clearly never driven behind a car with them on in rain, its a bloody nightmare!

4) Brake lights in stationary traffic. Getting to me at the moment because we have road works on my commute, car in front pulls up to lights that have just gone red (knowing full well its going to be a good 3-4 minutes before we are going anywhere) and they just sit on their brake pedal, dazzling me in the process. If I know I'm going to be sat stationary for more than 15-20 seconds I would never sit on my brake for that long, especially at night (and/or in rain), just common courtesy.

5) Broken headlights/rear lights. This seems to be getting worse, easily 1 in 10 drivers I see have at least one bulb faulty, and they never seem to replace them! 206s are the worse as they have their indicators on the inside, indicate left with a right hand bulb faulty and it looks exactly like a bike indicating right from a distance.

Phew, rant over! You touched a nerve. I don't pretend to be a perfect driver by any degree but there are simple little things that everyone really should be capable off, using/maintaining lights should be up there with indicating and actually using the lanes properly on a motorway!

agree with most of them although i do sit with my foot on the brake or ride the clutch just depends how long im gonna be sat at the lights for althoguh most of the lights round where i live are only on for a few seconds at a time they literally let 3 or so cars past then change so no point in using the handbrake. But hate it when people sit with there foot on there brakes in front of me and dazzle me lol cant really complain if i do it as well.

And people on the motorway annoy me sit in the middle or fast lanes and do 50 when the inside lane is completely free. I just flash them its really not difficult to keep to the slower lanes if your doing 50 or keep to the left if the roads clear. The other lanes are for over taking not sodding crusing along!

Yeah the brake lights thing is well annoying when its late at night and raining, just blinding sitting behind a big brake light bar.
Woz why do you ride the clutch, your 1:not going anywhere if your in traffic so just use your brake and 2:gonna be wearing the clutch out, and paying out for a new one.

  Monaro VXR
Only keep my cars for 2 - 3 years max and always buy brand new riding the clutch isnt gonna kill it in that time generally and cause i dont usually brake till i absolutely have to i come down the gear box and let engine braking do it for me round town etc. By the time i end up at the light only riding it for a few seconds. not a big deal.

Dont do it all the time just sometimes i just really can not be bothered lol so it get ridden. Or i creep along at the moment im doing it a bit trying to get used to the new clutch i will stop a bit behind a car and just try and creep as slowly as possible etc.

Most of the time though i do either keep my foot pressed down on the clutch and leave it in gear or handbrake into neutral etc. Just depends how im feeling to how i drive.

its the back ones that cause more problems to be honest dont think the front ones on clios dazzle much at all.
(dont use mine tho!)

i think the ppl who complain about this are worse, fogs dont even dazzle, if ppl think it makes ther road precense stronger so be it, its not harming nobody, haha maybe its cos they aint got fogs their selves :p

So if thats the case and they dont dazzle, why are the rear fogs 40% brighter than rear brake lights? ... They are the worse ones for dazzle mate, sorry but I dont agree with you at all and following someone on a motorway who cant be RS'd to turn them off is a pain, even more so in rain.
The fog lights are there for fog... and I do have fogs on mine thanks and they all work but I've more sense to drive around with them on.

I would say 'there's always one' but unfortunately there are more than a few.

They may not 'dazzle' you like full beam, but they're bloody off-putting, and it's just as annoying being behind someone with rear fogs on because they're so bright..

They are designed for FOG, not general driving. I hope you get pulled over and fined, it's only a matter of time.
