Any Network Engineer Guru's Look here - pretty please

I have this scenario:

There is a requirement that a web server, which is in constant use, be upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003.

Anyone have any main points (not wanting to too go indepth or anything) to consider when looking into this?

Will Active Directory play a part in this?

Cheers for any info

Depends what software is hosting the website. If its IIS it should just work really. You shouldn't need active directory unless its a domain controller. Is the server the only one u have or an addition thats for web hosting only?

just as i thought...
I'm assuming (for now) that it is the only webserver going from IIS5 to 6 being win2000 to 2003.

So probably the best way would be to get a separate server & install server2003 & IIS6 ... copy all web content or whatever across, set the bad boy up (however you do that) and bob's yer uncle?

I was thinking 'there must be more to it' but probably not.

thanks for the reply

Pretty much so yeah, not sure if there is special thing u have to do to copy/import websites from IIS5 to IIS6 though. Setting up a new server and copying would probably be the best solution.

Make sure you run them in parallel, when the new one is working perfectly turn the old one off, always have a fall back plan to the old system, as you know MS is a law unto itself and can throw wobblers over the smallest thing.
