there are 2 washers, a flat round one and a round one with raised bits on it - do these go above the bearing or below and does the rubber doughnut look like a dome (wider at the bottom than the top)
you have the coilover, then the metal hat as fred called it, then the big "washer" which is the bearing it has one flat side and one with a curved face the flat side goes at the bottom, then the bottom rubber donut then the brass coloured spacer goes in the middle followed by the shallow nut then the whole lot goes up into the arch and you replace the upper half that you can see when you lift the bonnet. Where are you based fella ?
cardiff mate - one of my mates is supposed to be fitting them on saturday but he has only ever fitted Spax coilovers - just want to make sure we know where the parts go - was gonna get fred to fit but Im skint til next weekend plus Im workin that weekend so it would be a few weeks before I could go and see him.
A little far for me (swindon) its pretty straight forward though you basically refit all the parts in the same order you remove them from the original strut.

nice 1 fred - i would come and get them fitted with you but I am skint til next week and working next weekend so it would be a few weeks before i could get up to you - I meant there were washers supplied with the shocks - there are 2 big ones, bout 2-3 inches wide - another 2 then about an inch smaller with raised bits on it and I also had 2 washers with slits in them which i presume go under the locking nuts. I am sure my mate will know what he is doin but just want to make sure!
I will send you a picture tnight of all the parts I have if thats cool.
any ideas on how to clean the threads on the front shocks - tried engine degreaser with toothbrush etc but not much coming off - dont want to use a wire brush incase it pulls the 'zinc' coatin off - wot do you reckon?
