Any other way to sync in itunes?

With my old ipod (80gb) I just plugged it into the laptop, opened itunes, and it synced everything.

Now though, I have a Nano, and there's more in itunes than will fit on it.

So, I just went through the whole list in itunes and ticked what I wanted to put on it, and synced all ticked items.

Is this the way to do it? OMG if it is everytime! lol.
