try re-installing the chipset drivers from the driver cd that will have come with your motherboard mate

as above + also XP service pack 2 if your copy of XP isn't the one that includes SP2

Every single update has been done and reinstalled drivers but still no luck!

I dont think i've ever seen an error on cd-rom's before like that.
You shouldn't need drivers as such, all my drives just go in, as they are standard ide drives.

I'd say the file that windows supplies, prob something like cdrom.sys is corrupt.

Is your windows a legit version, or one of the many available on t'interweb?

What type of HD did you install (ATA/SATA)? What are the jumper settings on it?

What have you done with your old HD (still on the computer, or removed)?

How are your CD roms installed (have you changed their positioning on the ribbon cables)?

Looks like there may be some kind of IDE Bus problem. Possibly caused by new HD - although i'm assuming both optical drives are on one Bus and HD on another - so not sure why it would cause the problem.

Just checked my own, and indeed HD is on Primary and both optical's on secondary.
