I can tell you that the cambelt most probably snapped at some point.

i'd take a guess at cambelt snapping too. still if it runs ok and has all the history and bills he reckons it has then it might be alright. Bear in mind it would be a straight swap with an MG ZS with 2.0 turbo conversion that only owes me £1300.

To be honest, at the end of the day its only a clio.... They are very cheap to run.
