anyone got spax RSX coilovers on a 172

  182>FRS>VX220 now 350Z

Ive had spax kit on a previous car, tbh i thought they were ok...specially as i got them for free ;-) If it was my money and i was in the market for an entry level coilover kit id go for the H&Rs over spax but spax over GAZ. However, from past experience i think its worth spending as much as you can on suspension and getting the best which is why I am buying LEDA. Wish i wouldnt have wasted money on apex springs then gaz coilovers but hey...hindsights a great thing lol

yeah my mate works for Spax - he designs the shocks - he said that the setup they designed for the 172 works really well - he agrees with you about Gaz - he said they used to supply parts to spax but they stopped using them as they were crap parts also they are not gas filled like spax KW and H&R and and of course LEDA. He rates H&R very highly and said that LEDA are also good - he said he is not sure about Leda though as they mainly supply things like grass track and various other motorsport type shocks and that they are quite a small company but as he said he is not sure and would have to test them to give his verdict.

Another thing he said is that it is always advisable to get stiffness afdjustable as well as when you lower the car more and more it may be necesary to soften the damping to get the handling set up correctly so going for the KW fixed damping is now out of the question

Unlike you Gary I do have to pay for them but gettin a pukka deal if I do go ahead - trying to persuade him to fit them for me is the next thing!

Do you have Gaz at the moment Gary - Are you not happy with them then?

Yes i have GAZ at the moment, tbh they were really good for the trackday i did at oulton park but they are a little harsh for road use...need to change the springs really but upgrading to the LEDAs now anyways.

hey i had spax rsx coilovers on my 1.2 16v, i also got them for free!!!!;).

Spax borrowed my car and fitted them for free, had the car set up for track use lowered 70mm front and 60mm back. Not sure on dampering. But my word it handled so well, i actually think it handled better with my 14s on than with my 17s...well it was more fun on 14s anyway!

But ya im looking at getting a decent setup for my 172, dont want spax again cos after 2 years they decided to rust and i couldnt adjust them properly.
