Anyone NOT had problems with there cup

  182

Ive been thinking about getting one very soon and have been looking at some which are only a year old with hardly any miles on them. Are all the cup owners having loads of problems with there motors coz the last thing i want to do is committ to a loan for 10k and have nothing but problems!!!

I spose there will be no way of knowing but why do people get 1 of these cars and sell it 4000 miles later??????

What about a normal 172???????

"Its the luck of the draw I think, remember not everyone with a Cup comes onto these boards. It may look like the Cup is plagued with problems however you will notice that a lot of new members have been appearing lately asking about problem x and problem y. You dont see the countless thousands of Cup owners joining up and saying "My cars been faultless from day1" etc etc.

If you read the CTR boards youd never buy a Type R Civic, but generaly as a rule they are bullet proof!"

19,500 miles and still going strong here! Yeah Ive had a few niggles, but before this I had a VW Golf (2000 - W), 2.0 litre GTI and that was the worst car ive ever owned in my life! TOTALLY SHOCKING!

So IMHO, my Cup is great and I love it.. even though whilst typing this I have been on hold to my local Renault garage for ooooh 4mins 52 seconds.. ho humm!

To be honest mate, if you get a cup thats a year old then chances are any little problems will have been sorted by the previous owner.

rwaterman Id be very very way of buying a nearly new cup with say less than 8k miles on it, you have to ask yourself why are they selling it so soon? If I was buying a second hand Cup Id get a note of the reg number and Vin number and goto your local Renault garage and see whats been done to it under warrenty. This will stop you buying a Friday afternoon car.

Ive had so many problems with my motor, the amount of money ive spent on it in repairs and servicing in the last year ive could have nearly bought a new car!!! This car was costing me more a month than what i cup would cost me.....

From your own knoledge and experience would i be bying trouble if i was to buy a 2nd hand one thats a year old with 4k on the clock or would it be better to spend the xtra 2k and get a brand new one?

Ive never owned a new car (1 or 2 years old) i dream of owning a mint looking cup and look after it keep all reciepts etc

Ive just got this fear of committing myself to a loan say for over 3 years and having a car riddled with problems.......

As Paul said, you tend to only hear the bad things, as people dont vome on and post "nothing wrong" threads...

Its usually only minor cr@p anyway and is all covered under warranty, so dont be put off!

Not just Cups though, 172s are as bad and its luck of the draw.

If for example i found a cup with extremely low miles and only, say up to a year old, if i had the vin and reg number and took those to a renault dealer would they tell me, if anything and what has been done under warranty??

Well Rob I bought my Clio with 6,500 miles on for about £11,500 in Feb so some of the original probs the garage had fixed (it was ex-demo).

I dont want to jump on my soap box and say what you should/shoudlnt do, but Ive known people with ferraris that break down so its up to you.

Personally - I love mine.
