Strangest thing ever, driving back from london and had to follow a police convey, 3 escorting cars with armed officers and a big armoured truck in the middle. Not sure what was inside but it must be important to have 12 SO19 officers armed with MP5's looking after it!!

The TV showed shots of a convoy like that here. It was David Hicks. The guy spent 5 years in Guantanamo Bay. He pled guilty so he wouldn't be stuck there for the rest of his life. He gets 10 months jail, got to serve it here, and will be released in a month or so. And whenever they want to talk to him about what he knows - as if after nearly 6 years he knows anything useful - instead of interviewing at the prison they transport him to a police station, and they go through these stupid theatrics of using a high security van and a convoy of police vehicles as if Osama bin Laden and the whole of al-Qa'eda is waiting somewhere along the route to spring him. I suspect in fact they just use it as a training exercise.
