Anyone with suspension knowledge

As I posted before somewhere I recently lowered my torsion bar and attempted to fit new front struts/springs. I had trouble with the struts and so ended up fitting new 55mm springs onto the factory shocks.

Basically this is my problem. On the 1.4 clio there is apparently 2 different types of front strut, 1 has a 52mm gap between the mounting bolt holes on the strut and one has a 54mm gap between these holes. Obviously they are not interchangable.

My struts however have a centre-to-centre distance of 60mm(!) which is obviously significantly bigger than either of these two. My car is a limited edition sport (mk1 phase3) and I need to know if other engined clios (RSi, 16v, willy etc) have different suspension in case renault fitted something different to my car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I dont know how long my standard shocks will take the abuse.

Cheers, Ben

try measure from the centre of the strut body to the lower strut to hub bolt. centre to centre of these 2 points......
