applying with hands (literally)

Is it acceptable to apply carnauba hard paste wax by hand? i tried it today and the warmth in your hands melts the paste and makes it really easy to apply an even coat.

It very much depands which waxes. Some contain quite high VOC levels and solvents in waxes aren't always that nice. You'll obviously be fine the odd time but prolonged use isn't reccomended for some of the smellier ones.

/\/\ elaborate!!

I applied Nattys Blue by hand yesterday and its the best i have seen the car look.... The thing of carnuba being an enzyme therefore working better with heat seems to be true as far as i can see.

PS - thanks for uber quick delivery on my order of bits

To be honest I think the whole enzyme stuff is marketing bullshit started by Zymol. In reality an high 5 content Carnuba needs to be warmed up in order for it to spread. I have always used my fingers to warm the top layer of any carnuba in it's pot to make it spreadable even even using foam applicators.

Some waxes contain chemicals I would not want wany to be rubbing into my skin in any huge amount - that is what Tim is refering to. Some products are made with the intention of being applied by hand so are made safe for that reason.

carnuba isnt an enzyme, and i cant see why there would be an enzyme in the wax....bullshizzle imo! never tried applying by hand....sounds messy!! lol

S22 JGS I applied carnauba wax by hand today for the first time and tbh I had some great results also, hard to determin whether or not an improvement over an applicator but it was an experience :)

could you not just pop it on the radiator for 10 mins before applying? would it work in the same way?

Leaving the pot in the sun also makes even hard paste waxes easy to spread.

I have done some half and half panels using Zymol Concours and best of Show by both foam hand pad and by hand and can't see any differnece in looks.

Couldnt agree more Rich
I have found that a lot of companies are jumping on the band wagon re applying waxes by hand.It seems to be the in thing ,but a word of warning.Your hands may seem soft to you but take a good quality microfiber towel and drag it along the palms of your hands,it catches and that indicates that your hands are rough.Thats why i dont believe in applying waxes by hand.If certain companies decided to market waxes being applied by the sole your shoe i guess people would try it.
In order to create waxes that are softer for hand application its not always the case that ingreduients or chemicals are added, the waxes are just manufactured at different tempretures and poured at different melting points, hence the reason they are softer
