Are active subs separable?

As title says, I have been offered an edge double 12" active sub with amp from a friend for £25. Now im wanting to buy it just because its a bargain but im not wanting some massive and bulky in my boot.

So was wondering if active subs are separable as i was going to put a false floor in my boot and put one of the speakers in the spare wheel well and. The other speaker in a box in-between my two 6x9 speakers (in boxes) which are already in my boot.

Dunno if i should attempt separating it all or just get a sub and amp separate online and buy a wiring kit.

Not really clued up on in car audio though.

Any opinions?

If you're planning on using both subs and the amp wired how they originally are then there won't be a problem. I'm working on a false floor in mine at the moment.
