Are Hankook V12's still rated? or are there more favourable options?

Hi Guys,

I've got V12's on all 4 corners at the moment. Fresh on February last year and I've done around 15-16k since and the fronts aren't far off the markers with some of the outer edges looking a litte shagged.

My MOT is due on Thursday and I figured with the impending autumnal rain approaching I might as well kill two birds with one stone.

I've no qualms with the V12's but haven't looked in to tyres properly in about 2 years. I do about 150miles a week on average, mostly B roads. I drive a little harder than I think I do but not all that often. Looking for a 'all year round' tyre. Budget can stretch if warranted but don't want to spend a small fortune. 205.45.16.

Before I slap another two V12's on the front are there other options worth considering?

Ta,

Ben

There is a cheaper Kumho tyre that is very very underrated... KU39. Really really impressed me.

I like them, I've done several trackdays on them. Great for the money.

Ironically I was in this thread first. I was laughing at your comparison of a performance budget tyre to one of the best tyres on the market. Also over double the price.

About £25 more for the same tyre size so wouldn't put them that far apart tbh, I'd much rather to spend the extra £25 and get ps3's tbh.

Double the price? where?

I'd say its a toss up between PS3s, the hankooks and pirelli p zero nero - all about the £100 mark for 205/45/16

Getting Hankooks fitted later today at £80 a corner, PS3's are £125 a corner fitted from BestBuyTyres.

Although not quite double, still a large difference to be honest.

where are you paying £35 for fitting as I can get the ps3's for £90. And the hankooks are something like £67 each on camskill.

Its no way near double if you shop around tbh.

I actually prefer the Hankook S1 Evo over the Ventus V12 but its still a very good tyre for the money.

I prefer the V12s for day-to-day, feel softer than PE2/PS3s. May not be as good performing, but enough for me when stuck on the M25.

+1

A lot cheaper than prices been quoted in here and manufacturers are standard fitting these instead of the latest continental sport contacts, enough evidence for me.

and to be honest i love to drive the car on the limit of its grip as its where it comes alive. (Where safe to do so on roads i know)

Since i bought my clio, Hankook v12's are all ive had fitted. On my 3rd full set now. It had conti's on before and i can honestly say, the hankooks are a pretty close match for a lot less money!

RS2's are soft as hell are they not Danny? In construction and compound! I was impressed with evo S1's on a wet trackday which is a good test of a tyre.
