Are mats covered under warranty

  Astra 1.9cdti XP

I know this might seem like a stupid question and the obvious answer is "Of course not you stupid arse!" But this is normally the case because most car dont come supplied with mats from the factory, but the 172 does so therefore it is part of the vehicle!!

I have checked the warranty document to find out what is covered and what is not and there is no mention of mat being excluded!!! For example if you carpet wears through within the warranty period then you can get that fixed under warranty for some reason the stearing wheel is exclued for wear and tear.

Do you think you could try and get mats replaced under warranty? or am I being an tight arse!!!

Eat your words guys!;) I got my mats replaced after two months under warranty. The drivers mat was worn through to the white backing within 400 miles (heel point under gas pedal)!! They couldnt get me the original 172 mats quickly so gave me a MK2 premium velour set instead. 2K miles later all is fine.

Geordiepaul: The new mats were heaps better. Much thicker than the standard so didnt curl up at the edges. They also have a velour "quilted" effect heal pad on the drivers side. The rears are single instead of the standard "bridged" shape. Colour is a slightly lighter grey but not out of place. Think they are listed as MK2 Premium mats (~ £50) in the standard accessories catalogue. Hope this helps. ;)
