It's 16 if that's the number on the side

195 is the width of the tyre , in MM

50 is the sidewall measure in percent so 50% of the 195 width

16 is the inches of the wheel

Yeah that's almost right. The first one is how fast your car can go though not the wheel size. If you go for stretch tyres your car goes slower at vmax. The second one is how much the po po will give you in bear finez if you get caught doing the first number. The third is the age of consent in the tyre manufacturing company. Ideally your tyre needs to look like this for maximum cornering grip and to be sure the tyre lasts as long as possible! you would be best fitting a 115/50/19 to our 17" wheels to achieve this!

They might be stealth tyres, quite a lot of them going about which are really 17 but they pretend to be 16 by having it written on the side that they are.
