are Reno bullsh*ting again..

been back to reno today cos the new engine mount they fitted didnt cure my knocking noise. Their verdict was to blame it on my "wider rubber". Ive got 195/45/R16 TOYO PROXES fitted and they blamed them for putting too much strain on the engine and there was nothin they could do about it!

Being a novice i dont know much but this sounds like crap... your thoughts..?

my original tyres were 165s so not that much different! i dont know where i stand really, ive paid them £50 for a new engine mount which hasnt done bugger all!... and i still havent got my car fixed!

so you all reckon theyre talking crap too then?

it will do in the end lol its all just more strain :D

ah if yours were 165 then yes they are wider and they can now get out of a warrant claim because of that

They wont have been 195 if you have a 1.4, but the wider tyre theory is total bollox... nowt to do with it.. its called "fault that renault dont want to acknowledge cause they would have to issue a recall and pay for it themselfs problem !" which they still havent fixed on the 182 apparently.. makes you laugh !

yes whats 14" gotta do with it :s

we are talking width not height wider bigger wheels do put more strain on the drivetrain fact ! so they can use it as an excuse not to pay out

it doesnt make me laugh... it makes me wanna go trash the place!! ive paid them for something that has done bugger all to fix my car and they basically told me to go away cos theres nothin they can do. AND i still have 5 months used car warranty with them!!

yeah i agree that it would put more strain on the engine but the mount was only fitted last thursday and they said it that which is making the noise due to stress caused by the tyres, BUT ITS ONLY A 4 DAY OLD MOUNT!!!!

*edit*

i need a way to prove its not the tyres as after only 4 days they couldnt have caused THAT much damage!! even the day they fitted it, the noise was still there!

my guess is that Reno dont know what the problem is so they are digging their way out of their mess.

If they want to help you they can, they are being arses. If you bought it from them and get it serviced there I would go in strong (But nice) Tell them its unacceptable and there is no way your wheels are affecting it, they are just getting out of it on a technicality.

ive really had enough now... im gonna phone the service manager and tell him that i want it sorted cos its under warranty and i also want a refund on the engine mount that didnt help in the slightest.

and yeah paddy, i should have bought a honda!

Why not put the original wheels on it and a new engine mount and see if the problem happens again, if not then you know they are telling the truth?

yeah good thought but i already spent £50 on an engine mount last week so i aint gonna buy another one!! Apparently the service manager is "in a meeting"... funny that!!

A trip to olympian again tomorrow i think, and this time i wont be wearing a smile!

Does the 1.4 come with 15s, and you have put wider 16s on? In that case they are in the right to say its your fault, similar to lowering the car and them saying that they wont fix cv joint problems. Any tenous link gives them a chance to get out of fixing something, and make you pay for it.

Right, the manager just phoned me and said that there is 3 mounts... upper, lower and a "wishbone" mount. They fitted me a new wishbone mount 4 days ago but the worn part they took out had caused damage to the other mouts. so therefore i need all 3 mounts replaced which apparently is gonna cost me a lot to do. He is still blaming it on the wheels and said that the problem will keep coming back.

He also said that the mounts from the 182 wont fit onto my car after i had asked him. These are stronger so i wanted these instead but theyre not gonna fit apparently.

I await his call tomorrow with a price for the other 2 mounts. What are your thoughts now guys? there might be some 16" OZ superlegerras with TOYO rubber on them up for sale soon, ive only had em 3 fkin weeks!!!

They are not up for sale, you have to give them to ME:mad:
lmao... yeah yeah, i tell u what... why not just take the car!!?

Fubar i would be pretty pissed off myself.

(to see where u stand) i would contact your solicter or your parents and tell the dealer u are gonno do this, and see what they have to say, at the end of the day, they have givin u the warranty, and they have to prove its the new tyres causing the problem, if you tell your them the noise was there before hand (weather it was or it wasnt) see what verdict they give then.

cos they put it on their database so all dealers can see what work ive had done... i think...?
p.s. nah mate put the orignals on, try it, because at the end of the day they cant prove the damage wasnt caused before hand.

yeah the noise was there before my wheels went on... ive already tried that one but they just say that the wheels arent standard so therefore anything relating to them isnt covered.

My cars just over 3 years old but i bought it from Olympian 7 months ago so i have 5 months used car warranty left, but i dont think it covers the engine mounts anyway cos its wear and tear.

Now you are joking with me now surely? Everyone on here has had their engine mounts done so youd have thought theyd have revised it for the new model?

Ren really make me cross sometimes, scrub that, all the time. Fun car, put together by monkeys.

do u reckon i should go to a different dealer? will my used car warranty be valid at a different dealer and wont they be able to look up a report on my car from the other dealer?

You can take your car to any Renault dealer for warranty work(3 years), you are not tied to any one dealer for this.

But used car warranty is usually supplied by a third party company who pay the money owed to the dealer for work done.

Taking your car to another dealer would not invalidate it anyway.

As to vehicle history on the database Renault have it only lists very basic information.

So what If they look it up anyway, you paid for it to be done, and it sounds incorrectly diagnosed to me.

right, im gonna get it checked by a local mechanic. Then ill put the original wheels back on and go to a different dealer and say "fix it, its your problem now".... dya think it will work?

**update**

looked through my warranty booklet and it says that the part should have been replaced (which they did 3 months ago) and also any other parts damaged as a result of the part failing should also be replaced, which they obviously didnt do!!

my cars no longer under the standard 3 year warranty but surely they should have changed the other parts cos they were damaged as a result?

**conclusion**

the manager just phoned and wasnt taking any crap from me. Theyre gonna charge me £226.25 for the top 2 mounts. When i said "u gotta be joking" he said that i could have 20% off which makes it £181. And hes still blaming my tyres!!

maybe i should take it up with TOYO for making their tyres too good ;)

Renault Customer Serivces, phone them..tell them your predicament and the fact that a faulty part was replaced but the related parts were not fitted and your delear is refusing to pay for them to be fitted.

Worth a try.

If you have finance on the car you can also get them to squeeze Renault because they actually own the car until you pay in full, this is how I resolved my issue
