Are some 2.0L door bullets non chromed from factory?

My current door bullets are sprayed silver from when I bought the car, there fine but I want what I thought where from factory on all sports, chromed?

I bought a set of chrome ones to polish up, one side fine, the other side too pitted to rescue. So I thought I'd take my current passenger side off, and polish off the paint back to chrome so I'd have a matching set.

But It looks like the ones I have on at the moment have never been the chrome look? Do some sports leave the factory with sprayed silver bullets?

Otherwise I'll attempt to remove the paint with thinners (good idea?) and then polish the chrome up if anyone can tell me it should be underneath the paint.

They come in a silver finish from the factory, Someone has probably chrome painted the other one.

You won't be able to polish them up, The easiest option is to paint them silver, That way they will match perfect.

The ones on my 172 were just silver, not chromed. And they were standard

Dan, I want chrome ones I already have mine painted silver, so ill have to find a matching chrome one seeing as I cant polish my current painted one, the shiny one in the picture has a metal type coating and polished up well.

I dont think theres any chrome underneath I'm just wondering if it was like that from factory.

You can get chrome paint,

There's a place near me that also do chrome "dipping" I'm not too sure how the process works but iv'e seen them do things like xbox controllers and car trim parts in chrome.

Don't quote me but I thought 172's were chrome and 182's were silver.

+1 had loads off ebay for spraying as mine get nicked on accassion. The chrome style come off the 172's and the silver painted ones are usually from 182's
