Are Speedline 2118s Ok?

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
hmmm saving of 16kg of unsprung weight. Can anyone remember the formula? 1kg = 3bhp or something like that??

Flol, there is NO way that losing 10kg of weight off your wheels will make you as much quicker as gaining 30bhp.

Dont get me wrong, im all for reduced unsprung weight, but we are talking tenths of a second a lap at best, not anything dramatic.

I totally agree, but there is a formula for unsprung weight. Might not be no where near what I quoted. I will see if i can dig the link out somewhere

Any formula is going to be a very vague approximation at best. Unless its got about 300 variables in it, lol

All of my cup series speedlines weigh pretty much 7.2kg. From memory, my of 'off the shelf' ET43 set weighed pretty much 9.4kg.

For me personally stronger > lighter.

Those weights you have quoted are for cup racer 2118's? (et48.5 with writing embossed in front face 7.2kg)

(9.4kg as in "palmersport edition" just the standard wheels speedline sell to public?)

Yes, both sets of phase one (blue decals) & my set of phase two (embossed) cup series rims all weigh pretty much dead on 7.2kg. As you say they're ET48.5, have a different spoke depth and no ET stampings.

My palmersport/whatever that speedline currently sell with the ET stamping on them weighed around9.4kg yes.

wheelweight.net or whatever it was had them listed as:
2020 : 15x7/Cast Mg/7.39355612kg
2118 Racing 2000 : 15x7/Cast/9.61615888kg

& for reference
2120 Turini : 16x7 /Cast/8.93577028kg
OZ Racing F1 : 15x7/Cast/8.98112952kg
OZ Superlegerra : 15x7/Cast/5.2163126kg
TD Pro race 2 : 15x7/Cast/6.39565284kg

Cheers, I have the cup racer wheels but no scales to hand.

Were there 2 phase's of the cup racer wheels? embossed and un embossed both in et48.5

2020's in your above post are heavier than your stated wheel weight for cup wheels :S

As far as I know.

That's just off the wheelweights spread Morgan so I can't really comment on the accuracy, just more for reference really.

If you look at the image I attached, it shows the weight. I'd imagine yours should be the same if you've recently bought them from Holland. :)

Gave my racer 2118's a weigh today and I got 7.8kg so not far from you Pablo.

18.5kg with Toyo proxes race slick, not light!

I have 2118's with r888's on, not once have I worried about weight, to be fair your all obsessed with weight when how many off you could tell the difference? To me they look the best... They go on track, get hammered and work as they should, I go home from track with a massive smile....surely that's wat its about......stop worrying about half a kilo, get what you think looks the best :)

Lol im not chasing weight figures what so ever but if you can get lighter wheels, same wheels but lighter or lighter anything for that point and look the same perform the same function and cost the same, why wouldn't you at the end of the day were all into performance of our cars and its the cheapest/easist BHP increase you will get.

Yes I agree with what your saying too, I do trackdays not compete so it's less of a worry if I'm half a second slower, for me as long as I like what I see and enjoy the buzz I don't worry about the pub chat of weighty wheels is slower etc. Totally get where your coming from thoughin the way of if your spending the same your may aswell go quicker but just make sure you love the look of the wheels instead of making do with a half looking wheel to get slightly quicker.

Just out of interest I weighed my Oz F1s yesterday. With 195 R888s on they came in at 13.2 Kilos. Forgot to weigh them before the tyres were put on though so I don't know how much the bare rim is or the tyre is.

I was always under the impression the standard 182 wheels were heavy and Oz F1s would be much lighter. My Oz F1s with R888s on are 13.2 kilos. My standard 182 wheels with some kind of Michelin tyres on are 13.4 kilos.

So pretty much the same unless R888s are a super heavy tyre in comparison.

Yeah I would imagine they weigh more than your typical road tyre, stiffer side wall etc. 182 wheels are bigger, smaller aspect tyre. Ozf1's are smaller with bigger aspect tyre, swings & roundabouts.

My slicks weighed in at almost 11kg each by themselves, good tyres are heavy.

R888's and RSR are both heavy, the Dunlop Sport SP slicks I have just bought however weigh next to nothing
