Are there any Word geniuses on here?

Might be a slightly weird request, but I need to create a couple of document templates in Word; one for a letterhead and one for an internal memo.

I need them to have fixed fields, where people can't change the layout or font. Does anyone have any good guides on how to do this? Microsoft support is shite.

Bring in the developer tab from File>Options>Customise Ribbon if it's not already there. Within that, you'll have a 'controls' and a 'protect' part to the ribbon within the developer part. You can add content control boxes, and restrict editing from there.

Write up the whole document, adding content control boxes for the bits that people need to add text to, and then password protect it from the developer options. If you select the editing restrictions to allow 'filling in forms' then the content control boxes are the only places a user can change text. The rest of the document should be locked.
